Asides

# Spent the last few days making Christmas cards, don't think I have actually completed one yet but have quite a few half completed!!

# Finally pulled my finger out and got some walking boots, after trying mountain climbing with canvas shoes it really was time to invest in some decent boots for all the walking I am going to do.

# Saw Mamma Mia last week - really don't know what all the fuss was about I thought it was dreadful.

# I was surprised that Lee McQueen won The Apprentice, I really did think that Claire had it in the bag but then again if what I have heard about both finalists working with Sir Alan Sugar for six months before he makes the decision is true!

Sales - update

Sunday, January 4th, 2009

It was this time last year when I was ranting about the true value of the Sales that I decided to follow two products which were heavily promoted in the sales by Harveys a company I used to work for so I have some understanding of how they operate and would assume that other retailers [...]

Woolworths - Closing Down Sale

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

It seems that the end is in sight for Woolworths, it was put into administration a few weeks ago and the aim was to try to keep the stores open over Christmas while a new buyer could be found for the business. I am guessing that no one wants to take on nearly £400 million [...]

WH Smith Clubcard - Don’t lose out!

Sunday, November 23rd, 2008

Called into a WH Smiths store yesterday and being bored I picked up a leaflet about their new Privilege Club - which is replacing the clubcard that they operate. Now WH Smith introduced its Clubcard in 1997 offering 10 points for every £1 spent but had to conduct a comprehensive overhaul in 2003. It simplified [...]

The Weather

Monday, November 10th, 2008

It astounds me when I hear of people who have been taken completely by surprise by the weather we have in this country. Yesterday the heavens opened and it rained pretty much for most of the day and that rain was heavy (some thunder and lightening were thrown in for good measure) of course with [...]

Underage smoking

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

As I was walking to my car yesterday I passed a few children on their way to school, nothing unusual about that but what I did find rather disturbing was the fact that the majority of them were walking through the town with lit cigarettes. As of 1st October 2007 the law in the United [...]

Free gifts in papers/magazines

Sunday, September 14th, 2008

It has been quite a while since I bought a daily newspaper on a regular basis, I still get the local weekly paper to keep up to date with what is going on in and around the town. I do however try to keep a look out for any special offers that the national press [...]

How difficult is it to change a watch battery?

Friday, September 12th, 2008

Well it seems if you are trying to change a watch battery in Carmarthen it is near impossible! As I was off work yesterday and my watch has been displaying the wrong time and date for the past couple of days (apparently it is January 1995) I thought I would pop along to have the [...]
