I did go to see the film last night and have to admit that I was rather disappointed with the film. I’ve been trying to think what it was about the film that I disappointed me and ultimately felt it did not follow the book as much as it should have. I know that because they cut the last book into two films there would have to be some poetic license and did notice that some scenes in the film never actually happen in the book.
The film felt rushed and that is one reason why the book will always be better than the film, they did not show the the deaths that occurred in the battle of Hogwarts – you do see the bodies of Tonks, Remus and Fred Weasley, maybe this was done to keep the 12A rating. I thought the last battle took place in the great hall with the remaining members of the Order of the Phoenix duelling the death eaters, the closest the film gets to this is Molly Weasley duelling Bellatrix Lestrange which again is over after a few seconds – yes I mean seconds. Of course in the book Voldemort is in the great hall and is there to see his followers being taking down and it is then that Harry tells him that the wand is not working correctly as it was Draco that won the wand and not Snape. Talking of Snape it was nice to see the memories and to know that Snape was a good guy all along
